Summary

Carry on Cruising was the 6th film of the series and the first to be shot in colour. This thoroughly enjoyable movie follows the exploits of the Carry-on-Gang as they basically take control of a cruise ship as it tours the Med. Sid James plays Captain Wellington Crowther, whose crew include an oversensitive chef, (Lance Percival), a vane First Officer, (Kenneth Williams), a drunk steward, (Ronnie Stephens) and an incompetent bartender (Jimmy Thompson). Together they make life for Captain Crowther and most of the passengers on the voyage, a total living hell, creating a lot of comical mishaps along the way.

In many ways this film follows the same path as most of the other Carry On’s, only on a cruise ship.  There are some obvious parallels with the ‘Up the Creek films’ which came out a few years earlier.  This is a comedy that is definitely worth a watch if you come across it on TV or find it on DVD or VHS in a charity shop. To conclude, this is one voyage that I would strongly recommended that you take, it has some great editing and an hilarious ending involving an exploding cake.
