Summary

Very few Carry on fans actually know, that the first film that carried the infamous ‘Carry-on’ title was not actually part of the series created by Gerald Thomas and Peter Rodgers. Carry-on Admiral was released in 1957, a full year before Carry on Sergeant. Technically, purely by name, it is indeed the first Carry on production. A funny quirk is that it stars the Carry-on legend Joan Sims.

The caper follows two friends, one a politician (David Tomlinson) the other a Naval captain (Brian Reece), after a heavy night on the town they end up accidently switching hotel rooms and clothes. Invariably they find themselves in the wrong jobs, creating chaos as they do not have a clue what they are actually doing, leading to all sorts of antics. A typical 1950’s British comedy, if you’re a fan of these sorts of films then you will enjoy it tremendously, although for me it is a bit dated.
